At any rate, take your minds back to New Years 2009...where did that night find you? For us, it found us at my work beach house in Manzanita. Decent house, two stories, fireplace, short walk to the beach, pret
ty typical. We had invited several friends to come join us celebrate, even bought party decorations; but at the last minute Katie's friends bailed on us, so it ended up just being me and Katie, Alison and her girlfriend. We took off early Friday to get out early and setup. Had loaded Katie's trunk full of firewood and our bags, and off we went on our very first trip together. We were quite excited!
But when we arrived the house was FREEZING and it was raining outside. We ran around turning on all the thermostats, picking our room, then setting to start the fire (all Katie's doing since I can't start one no matter how hard I try). Alison and her girlfriend arrived shortly after and we set to planning our New Years evening. Unfortunately Alison was sick and it was rainy and cold outside, so they went to bed early and we opted out of hitting the allegedly crazy New Years parade in downtown Manzanita. We rang in the New Years cuddled in front of the fire watching the big ball fall. Which was actually fine by me considering I do not like being wet and cold.
The rest of the weekend stayed cold and rainy, that is until the very last day when the sun peaked through. You could see that the storm had dumped mounds of snow on the mountain passes though, so we left early. Turns out it was a good thing we did because they closed the passes shortly after we came though! Needless to say, 2009 came in filled with warmth, comfort and love this year (minus the snowy ride home).
