On Saturday we celebrated my big 30. The plan was to hit the Oaks Park Roller Skating rink dressed up in 70s or 80s attire and enjoy a serious flashback to childhood skating around like dorks. In the hours leading up the event, Katie and I made 2 boxes worth of cupcakes because 15-20 people had responded "yes"
to my evite. Well, during that time, a mega storm system moved through and at least 10 people bailed at the last minute. No worries, we'd still have fun.
to my evite. Well, during that time, a mega storm system moved through and at least 10 people bailed at the last minute. No worries, we'd still have fun. So we donned our costumes, packed up a few of the cupcakes (apparently you can't bring in outside food) and headed to Oaks Park. I was dressed up in skin tight, shiny disco pants, a flowy black shirt and huge blonde afro. Amanda went Charlie's Anglels style with a 70s Farah Fawcett Wig, red track jacket, yellow short shorts and tangerine tights.

Katie went 80s with a jean skirt, electric blue leggings and side ponytail. It was hilarious. So all dressed up, we made our way down to the rink, only to get turned away in the parking lot, due to a power outage from the storm!! I was totally bummed but started the phone tree of letting people know, and we decided to change the venue to Gresham Skate World. Likely far more scary, but still roller skating glory nonetheless. So out we went to Gresham: me, Katie, Amanda, Jessica N., Alison and Aimee. Andrea met us there. It was a good time and 4 of us dressed up. Andrea went classic mod style and looked great. We had lots of kids laughing and asking us why we were dressed up and if our hair was real. It was pretty funny. Sadly to add insult to injury from the night, the Icee machine was down, they were out of Super Ropes and we completely forgot to take any good pictures. We did enjoy some nachos and pretzels with fako cheese however. Our night ended with a trip to the E-room with Amanda, Katie and I. Amanda ended up making out with some chick, largely from our encouragement, and we didn't end up back home and in bed until around 2am. What a night!!!
