Gardening Fun

Katie and I spent Valentines Day digging ourselves a new garden in the vacant lot next to our apartment complex. Two years ago, several of our neighbors decided to take over the lot (with the owner's permission, of course) and develop it for gardening. The gardens are growing leaving little room left, so we figured we'd better hop on it before there was no place left to stake a claim. We bought a shovel and a hoe, and started breaking up the rocky/sandy ground.

It was alot of work that resulted in sore muscles and blisters, but the day was gorgeous, Deiab had fun, and we met several of our neighbors in the process. Now it just needs a little more work and some compost to help enrich the soil, and hopefully we'll see the early fruits of our labor in a few months!
